Brie first began working for the Portland State Vanguard as a writer in April 2013. She wrote 58 articles, all of which can be found on the newspaper’s website. She was later promoted to opinion editor in December 2015 and participated in the Media Fellows leadership program.

For her work at the Vanguard, Brie was awarded 3rd Place for Best Section at the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association (ONPA) Collegiate Newspaper Contest in 2016 and 2017. She was also nominated for Best Columnist in 2016.

Brie left the Vanguard in August 2016 when she graduated from Portland State University.
